On the 28th August 2013, the Brazilian leather industry will be focused in Novo Hamburgo, when it occurs the 2nd CICB Sustainability Forum. In its international edition, the event will bring together world-renowned experts to present and discuss the newest ideas, concepts and sustainable practises to the entire tannery chain. Organised by the Centre for the Brazilian Tannery Industry (CICB), the event takes place from 13h30 to 18h (Brasilia time UTC – 3), in the Fenac's Exhibition Venue, during the next Courovisão (International Fair of Components, Leather, Chemicals, Equipment and Accessories for Footwear and Manufactured Goods).

After the first edition’s success - which reached its maximum capacity in 2012 - the forum extends its scope and brings to Brazil foreign speakers, consolidating the event as an international activity. With innovative themes to the global leather sector, all the panels will have simultaneous translation.

The first panel has already confirmed the presence of the Italian Federico Brugnoli. Specialist in sustainability, life cycle assessment and leather performance management and responsible for UNIDO’s technical report concerning the carbon footprint in leather. Federico is the speaker for the panel: Technical Barriers: certification, legislation, rules and procedures. In addition to him, Michael Appleby, Chief Scientific Adviser of the British organisation World Society for the Protection of Animals has been also confirmed. Michael is in charge of the panel: Leather, past and future: Ecology, Economy and Ethics of Sustainability.

The 2nd CICB Sustainability Forum is supported by Fenac Exhibition and Business Center and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). JBS Couros is the master sponsorship. Further information regarding the event’s registration will be announced soon.
