José Fernando Bello, executive president of the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB), says the positive numbers related to Brazilian leather exports reflect the valorisation of the product in a global scale, especially due to the new positioning leather has gained within several industries. According to Bello, the rise in people’s perception towards the differentials of leather as a material is a reality across the world, which, in fact, influences new consumers to enter the leather market.

The participation of leather in Brazilian exports is at 1,4%. In the total value of exports of all products, Brazil registered a surplus of US$ 506 million, reducing the cumulative deficit to US$ 5,57 billion.
