On March 30th, during APLF (Asia Pacific Leather Fair), a Brazilian company was awarded with the Tannery of The Year 2016, promoted by British magazine World Leather. Initiated in 2009, this year the award recognized Couro do Norte, which exceeded other six finalists from countries like Iceland, India, Sweden, USA, Sudan, and China.

Founded in 1981, Couro do Norte is guided by top product sustainability and traceability policies. The company is part of Brazilian Leather, project dedicated to promoting the sector in the international market and coordinated by CICB (the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry) in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), exporting to places such as USA, Europe and Asia.
