Brazilian leather exceeds business expectations in Paris exhibition

Première Vision Leather Paris is well-known among Brazilian leather professionals, but it’s still capable of surprising us all. In its most recent edition, the exhibition exceed initial expectations from the group of four Brazilian tanneries that took their articles to France thanks to support from Brazilian Leather, project dedicated to promote leather exports and coordinated by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). Première Vision Leather Paris is expected to generate US$ 4,5 million in business within the next 6 months (the initial expectation was of US$ 1 million).

During the three days of the event, the Brazilian leather industry closed US$ 600 thousand in business, establishing significant contacts with buyers from France, Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom. According to Tereza Braga, agent at Best Brasil, the strategy of grouping together all Brazilian companies in the exhibition was highly important for their success (companies were located close to each other, bearing Brazilian Leather project’s identification). Paulo Amary Costa, from Nova Kaeru, says that participating in consecutive editions of Première Vision Leather (there are two editions per year in Paris and two in New York) is a very positive factor. “Most clients are familiar with our articles, they know products by their names, know they are originated from the Amazon, and expect to meet us again in the following exhibition”, explains Costa.

Brazil also took to Première Vision Leather Paris a special Brazilian Leather project stand, where articles from Preview do Couro (“Leather Preview”) were presented for the audience. The exhibition brings a collection of hides that anticipate future trends and are the result of a carefully developed project involving a series of Brazilian tanneries – an initiative that maximizes Brazilian participation in the event.
