Brazilian leather exports show an increase of 28% in August

Registering a total of US$ 266 million dollars in August, preliminary figures regarding exports of Brazilian hides and skins were released by the Department of Foreign Trade – Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), with further analysis from the Department of Intelligence of the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industries (CICB). The number represents an increase of 27,9% in comparison to August last year.

In the yearly accumulate leather exports amount to US$ 1,98 billion – an increase of 24% in comparison to 2013. Executive president of CICB, José Fernando Bello, says business is at very positive moment throughout the world, and Brazil made the right moves in this scenario in ways that contribute to the growth and improvement of the local leather industry.

Leather participation in Brazilian global exports is at 1,3%. The Brazilian trade balance registered a surplus of US$ 1,168 billion in August, reversing a negative accumulate from previous months.
