Brazilian leather and skins suppliers are still celebrating their participation at IILF 2016 (India International Leather Fair). Taking place between February 1st and 3rd in Chennai, city located in India’s southernmost region, this year’s IILF gathered eight companies from Brazil: Coming; Curtume CBR; Curtume Cacique; Hason International; Hop Ying; JBS Couros; Liderkoll, and Minerva.

All eight tanneries come back from the event extremely please, since they’ve sold around US$ 3,5 million. “Better yet, companies closed their participation in the event with business projections of around US$ 23 million for throughout the year”, reveals executive president of CICB (Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry), José Fernando Bello

The presence of Brazilian companies in the exhibition had the support from Brazilian Leather, project dedicated to promoting the sector in the international market, and coordinated by CICB in partnership with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).

According to Bello, India is among the alternative markets that have been showing the most interest in leather from Brazil. “We are paying very much attention to Indian market trends, and are pretty confident that Brazil is regarded by local buyers as one of the top suppliers, for both the quality and competitiveness of our products”, he says.
