After showing a great interest for leather made in Brazil, India promotes between February 1st and 3rd IILF 2016 (India International Leather Fair). This year’s edition takes place in Chennai, city located in the southernmost region of the country.

Eight Brazilian leather and skins suppliers will take part in the event – which, according to executive president of CICB (the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry) José Fernando Bello, should generate around US$ 6 million in business.

“India is already one of the sector’s greatest bets as an alternative market. In that sense, IILF has proved to be an excellent opportunity for Brazilian companies to discover and explore the ever growing Indian market”, says Bello.

The presence of the eight Brazilian companies in the event is made possible through Brazilian Leather, project dedicated to promote local leather in the international market and coordinated by CICB in partnership withApex-Brasil (the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).

“Thanks to Brazilian Leather and the support from Apex-Brasil our leather segment has the opportunity to be a part of IILF, an event promoted by a country with a very significant potential of buying Brazilian products”, adds Bello.

Chennai will also be hosting between February 3rd and 5th the 19th UITIC Congress (International Union of ShoeIndustry Technicians). Organized by the Council for Leather Exports(CLE India), the event aims at discussing ‘innovations and the future of the footwear industry’.
