Movements of behavior and society are the focus of the Leather Preview’s research, developing new leathers each semester in the anticipation of trends. In this edition of the exhibition, the word synchrony guided the creation of all the leather goods reflecting on the current realities of connectivity, content, and technology in which we live. The official presentation of this edition of the Leather Preview — 2021_I — will soon take place on June 4th and 5th in São Paulo at the Inspiramais - Design and Material Innovation Hall, an event held by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB), Assintecal, Abit, Tex Brasil, By Brasil Components and Chemicals and the Brazilian Leather project, a partnership between the CICB and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) to encourage leather exports.
Marnei Carminatti, the designer and consultant who coordinates the Leather Preview, explains: "Synchronicity makes us think about the influence of connectivity associated with information speeds and artificial intelligence, suggesting the future as something immediate. It also combines references from the past and the present into the subtopics of synapse and eclecticism. Carminatti further emphasizes that the result of this research and development are leathers with unique paintings and metallic finishes that simultaneously evidence leather’s natural aspect as well. There are hides with details of cutouts, castings, and geometric lines, as well as prints and engravings that feature the structure and outline of the drawings.
All of the conceptions will be exhibited in a privileged space at Inspiramais, presented in a way that’s unprecedented not only for leathers, but also how it’s applied in final products. After Inspiramais, the collection will be presented at leather fairs around the world — in Paris and Shanghai, for example — at the Brazilian Leather stand.
