Opening ceremony of the XXXIII IULTCS Congress gathers representatives from the Brazilian and international leather sector

Local authorities, leaders from the major entities across the Brazilian and international leather and footwear production chain, and an audience comprised of sector professionals and entrepreneurs followed the official opening ceremony of the XXXIII IULTCS Congress (International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies). The event opened yesterday, November 24th, and runs until next friday (November 27th) at Feevale University, in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul.

President at IULTCS, Patricia Casey was responsible for welcoming visitors. Roberto Kamelman, president of the event’s Organizing Commission, and José Fernando Bello, executive president at CICB (the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry), also expressed their gratitude.

The opening ceremony also had the presence of Cézar Müller, president of ABQTIC (the Brazilian Association of Leather Industry Technicians and Chemists), entity responsible for organizing the IULTCS Congress in Brazil; Regina Cánovas Teixeira, president at Flaqtic (the Latin American Federation of Leather Industry Chemists and Technicians Associations); and Adriano Boff, coordinator of the National Investments Promotion Agency and the Investing Office of the Department of Economic, Science and Technological Development of the Government of Rio Grande do Sul.

The schedule at the thirty third edition of the IULTCS Congress presents a series of special lectures, oral presentations, meetings, and affiliated events, such as the XIX Flaqtic Congress and the XXI ABQTIC National Meeting.

Biannual, the IULTCS Congress’ previous edition as held in Turkey, in 2013.

Brazil hadn’t hosted the event for over 20 years.
