One of the leading indicators for the international leather industry in this second semester of the year is All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE), which takes place between August 31st and September 2nd in Shanghai. This year, 21 Brazilian companies and the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) will be showcasing their articles with support from Brazilian Leather, project focused on promoting leather exports and coordinated by CICB in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). The expectation is that the event generates US$ 200 million in business for Brazil within the next 12 months.

ACLE takes place surrounding expectations towards a consistent resumption of business in China. “It’s an important moment for the sector. We’ll have to see the Chinese market behavior for the next few months, it could certainly define new strategic paths for Brazilian companies”, says executive president of CICB, José Fernando Bello.

In order to give better support and increase Brazilian results at ACLE, the Brazilian Leather project has carefully planned an agenda that begins prior to the event – with a preparatory meeting gathering all Brazilian tanneries with the objective of detailing the Chinese market and the event’s profile. At ACLE, Brazilian exhibitors will take part in B2B meetings with Chinese buyers organised by Apex-Brasil’s office in Beijing. Also during ACLE, Brazil will be joining the 10th edition of Leather Forum, organized by China Leather Industry Association (CLIA). Brazil will present the world with Preview do Couro - Summer 2018 (Leather Preview), an exhibition of articles specially developed based on future fashion trends and that has already proved to be an efficient business platform for the country.

Fuga Couros is one of the companies that make up Preview do Couro, and that will also be at ACLE with its own stand. Company manager Nikolas Fuga says the ACLE has its special place in the Asian market, having already conquered relevant local niches for Brazilian tanneries and becoming the most important business event for the segment.
