Brazilian Leather exports in June

A preliminary report shows that in June Brazil exported US$ 245 million in hides and skins. With these numbers, the first semester in 2014 comes to end reaching a total of US$ 1,464 billion in leather sales to the external market, according to preliminary information from the Department of Foreign Trade – Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), with further analysis from the Department of Intelligence at the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB).

Exports in June 2014 represent an increase of 23,8% in comparison to the same period in 2013. In comparison to May, it showed a decrease of 5,3% in export values. In the yearly accumulate, there’s already a high of 23% over the first semester the year before.

Leather participation in Brazilian exports has stayed at 1,3%. With a surplus of US$ 2,365 billion in June, the Brazilian trade balance had its deficit reduced to US$ 2,490 billion.
