The Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) will celebrate 60 years of history with a party this Thursday, December 7th.  Associates, partners, and guests will all come together at the Espaço Tao in Novo Hamburgo (RS) for a dinner full of tributes, memories from the industry's past, and a surprise show.

The event marks the closure of a cycle of celebrations throughout 2017 that aimed to remind others- through videos and printed materials- of the challenges, guidelines, and achievements of the tannery sector in specific periods, starting with the foundation of the CICB in Rio de Janeiro in 1957.  "Since then, our industry has gone through a tremendous evolution, including the start of exports, technological transition, professional qualification, and projects aimed at adding value to leather.  We presented this timeline in each of the three events celebrating our 60 year anniversary to date, and now we've arrived at the final chapter" says José Fernando Bello, CICB's executive president.  The entire history from 2002 to 2017 will be presented in its entirety through video and print materials in Novo Hamburgo.

The CICB is the entity that represents all the leather-producing industries in Brazil, regardless of size or location. Among its objectives, it seeks to qualify the sector and promote trade intelligence and the image of Brazil's leather in domestic and international markets. Its members account for more than 80% of the country's leather production, recognized as one of the largest players in the industry worldwide. Brazil produces 40 million hides annually, exporting to more than 80 countries.
