On a sharp rise, the leather sector represents over 14% of the Brazilian trade balance. A lot of it is due to the impulse given by new markets, such as Hungary and Thailand, which have grown, respectively, 238% and 61%, therefore joining China, Italy and the United States as great Brazilian product consumers. However, the evidence that Brazil is among the most creative, highest-tech countries is the increase in finished leather export, of higher added value: they already represent 60% of total exports.
