Leatherex was founded in 1980 by Hermann Kessler, who decided to start his own company after a wide international experience at Santa Helena tannery since 1970. With his new business, Hermann started selling leathers to old and new customers – many of which are commercial partners to this day. The businessman was one of the first to export leather from Brazil to China and the Far East. In 2002, his daughter Helena, a postgraduate in finance, after completing the tanning course at Senai, joined the business, working initially with the domestic market.
