Inspiramais- the Design and Materials Exhibition- brought two days of an intense business agenda, innovation, and sustainability for the supply chains of both leather and fashion as a whole. The event took place on January 16th and 17th at the Pro Magno Events Center in São Paulo (SP), with ten Brazilian tanneries showing hides for the development of footwear, clothing, and furniture. A large number of visitors and projects meant to converge knowledge and relationships were some of the highlights at this edition of the event.
Inspiramais is held by the Brazilian Association of Leather, Footwear, and Artifacts (Assintecal), the Brazilian Association of the Textile and Apparel Industry (Abit), and the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) with their respective projects to encourage exports - By Brazil Components and Chemicals, Tex Brazil, and Brazilian Leather – all developed with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
Rhoma Pelles tannery, which specializes in sheepskin and goat leather for the clothing sector, has exhibited in consecutive editions of Inspiramais and this time presented an unprecedented development of theirs that was created in the last semester: varnish leather. "It was the only item that we hadn’t been working with. The public response was very good indeed. Fair visitation was excellent, even beyond what was expected," said Márcio Hartmann, commercial manager of Rhoma Pelles, which is one of the companies participating in the Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability (CSCB). In this edition of Inspiramais, the certification was presented in an exclusive environment next to other Inspiramais projects under the name Espaço Sustentabilidade.
Among the bovine hides, one of the highlights was the collection developed by Curtume Natur that was inspired through references to Walt Disney. Pastel, earthy, and metallic tones (with gold giving way to silver and rosé) were on the signature Natur hides that were presented in Inspiramais. One of the trends at the station- the varnish, that is one of the articles for which the tannery is recognized- won much of the public’s attention.
The next edition of Inspiramais will be on July 17th and 18th, in the same location. The central theme: Alchemy.
