The next major global event in the leather sector is coming up soon. The All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) fair will take place from August 29-31 in Shanghai. 14 business groups from Brazil will be displaying their leathers with the support of Brazilian Leather - a project that incentivizes exports developed by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
Letícia Luft, project manager for Brazilian Leather, points out a number of resources BL will employ to add potential to their participation: on the eve of ACLE, exclusive business roundtables will be held between Brazilian tanneries and Chinese buyers from the furniture segment (organized with the support of the Apex-Brasil office in China) and during the fair the Brazilian stand will be showing the Leather Preview, with its diverse collection of special leathers from different national industries. They will also finish by participating in meetings with ICT (the International Council of Tanners) and the 20th anniversary celebration of the ACLE fair.
In this edition of the fair, over 23 thousand people are expected to visit the 1,038 exhibitors from 39 countries. This year ACLE will happen at a time of great expectation in the sector, with decreasing business worldwide despite the positive balance of Brazilian exports to China (8% growth in area from January to July). The event traditionally provides participants a series of relevant information on the sector's trends- especially with respect to the Chinese market - which is currently Brazil's largest leather customer, accounting alone for 31.8% of exports in value.
