The thirty third IULTCS Congress (International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies) is coming to an end this friday, November 27th, in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul. Regarded as the world’s most important technical leather event, the meeting began on November 24th.

Besides gathering in Brazil the major players within the leather and footwear production chain, the IULTCS Congress serves as a true opportunity for professional updating. During its four days, the event hosted five special lectures – on design, sustainability, and demands from the automotive industry for leather suppliers. Also highlighted in its schedule was the presentation of 180 works from 24 countries, on topics running from environmental management to innovation in tanneries.

More than 600 professionals from all continents are participating in the XXXIII IULTCS Congress. Entities connected with the segment from all over the world are also taking part in the event.

This is the second time Brazil hosts the international meeting. The first was in 1993, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. This year, the biannual event was organized by ABQTIC (the Brazilian Association of Leather Industry Technicians and Chemists).

Founded in 1897 in London, UK, IULTCS congregates the entities that represent leather chemists and technicians from all over the globe. Since 1949, the organization has been promoting the Congress aiming at improving the sector.
